The Story so far.
Arriving in the courtyard of the Monastery di Bella Ponte the PC’s Cosimo di Myrmidon, Ilsa Luntz and Alberto Sforza were introduced to a merchant named Signor di Bombardier and his bodyguard Franz Ferdinand. After a rather awkward start thanks to the amount of shopping the PC’s needed, threatening a caravan scout and a bunch of peasants during a nightly stopover and finally paranoia getting the better of them and jumping at shadows the PC’s reached the safety of a fairly quiet tavern.
It’s unfortunate then that Signor di Bombardier was assassinated by three masked men while the PC’s slept then… On his body they found a document worth a king’s ransom, an invitation for the great city of Miragliano to station a garrison in the city of Remas. Both Ilsa and Alberto headed east attempting to sell the information to the nearest town while Franz and Cosimo headed west to reach Miragliano before any more killers could appear...
Session 2
A long entry because an awful lot happened!
We opened to find Alberto sniffing around the small town of Ebino, having no evidence of the treaty both he and Ilsa failed to find anyone willing to believe them. Instead Alberto headed to the town stables, where he handed them back the fine stallion he had “liberated” from di Bombardiers killers to replace his old nag. Finding the killers had hired the horses in the presence of a Signor Tetro he went in search of the nobleman, rehiring the horse as he went.
Arriving at the Palazzo he successfully bluffed his way into a meeting, his knowledge of the treaty intriguing Tetro, a tense negotiation later and after convincing Tetro he was a patriot of Remas Alberto was off to Miragliano in the presence of two rather rough looking men.
Meanwhile Franz and Cosimo had discovered something rather disconcerting, after being ambushed by Skaven and one of their horses killed they ran into yet another ambush, this one failing though. After spotting a propped up body in the middle of the road both Franz and Cosimo dismounted and set there own trap for the Skaven, Franz luring them to attack then targeting the leader with deadly crossbow fire while Cosimo fended off the other five Skaven.
Shrugging off the assault and carrying on to the city they arrived at the small village of Prato, mist shrouded and silent they discovered nearly fifty Skaven milling around the village, particularly around the church where faint screams could be heard. Stealthily creeping through the empty town hall they arrived at top of the clock tower, they had spotted something interesting lying in the midst of the horde. Large canisters of what Franz identified as Warpfire lay ready to immolate the church and possibly the entire village.
With care Franz aimed a flaming crossbow bolt at the farthest barrel, only for it to bounce off and alert the Skaven to his presence, after a moment of confusion a black tide of furry bodies started to run towards the town hall while a goggle wearing Skaven shrugged the canister on its back and started dragging it towards the church.
Franz’s second shot however, hit the tank square on, the burning rag igniting the fuel inside, with a vast roar a wave of green fire blew threw the chittering Skaven and sent most of them to Morr’s realm while the rest scattered and panicked. The village stood smouldering, a good deal of the forum and buildings damaged or burnt. A grateful crowd of people emerged from the smouldering church and showered the PC’s with praise, sadly several of them had been crushed or had persistent ringing in their ears so some residual bad feeling was present…
By the time Alberto arrived at the village, minus a guard after some terror in the night and the other twitching from a strange rock taken from a dead Skaven, Franz and Cosimo had managed to find Franz’s war buddies Liza and Maneli and the peasants were set to leave the village.
Unfortunately fate had other plans, a mercenary company and nearly a hundred refugees arrived at the village. Miragliano is burning, the Skaven have attacked and burnt much of it to the ground. Only the city centre is holding out, surrounded by the horde. Dispirited the PC’s were recruited by a senator from the city and led the refugees to safety back the way they came…
