(Run 22/04/09)
Date: Saturday, 17.01.2070
With two of the other team down, Monkey and Ishmael began a sweep of the rest of the boat. Sharp joined them on the bridge to throttle the yacht's engines down, surprised to find that the captain was wearing a monocle for no apparent reason other than the fact that the GM had had three pints. The immediate threat over, Adamar lit a deepweed joint and enjoyed an hallucinatory fugue as he was forced into Astral Perception.
The first door Monkey opened revealed a woman tied to a chair with a large bullet-hole in her forehead. Her scent matched the one on the backpack strap he had and they quickly concluded that this was what remained of Smiles.
Another door contained a sleeping woman, seemingly unperturbed by the gunfire around her. Shaking her failed to produce a reaction so she was ignored.
It was at this point that Adamar's perceptions seemed to indicate that the troll who had fallen off the yacht was astrally active, suggesting some kind of magical ability. The fact that the trail led under their own boat was slightly worrying. At this point, the troll pulled herself up the other side of the boat and lunged at Adamar.
A swift dodge, thankfully prompted by his quick realisation of the troll's status, meant she only clutched air. She was prevented from causing much more havoc thanks to Sharp grabbing and hurling the captain's monocle, crushing her skull and causing her to tip back overboard.
Back on the yacht, the next door revealed the form of Ottmeyer unconscious on a bed and a man with a submachine gun ready. Behind him was a duffel bag in which conspicuous blinking lights indicated an obvious bomb waiting to detonate. A firefight between the man and Ishmael and Monkey concluded successfully for the team, and very unsuccessfully for the man. Ishmael moved to secure the bomb until Doozer, the team's demolitions expert, could arrive while Monkey checked the woman.
At this point, Monkey felt his limbs jerk around to open fire on his colleague's back. However, thanks to incredible bad luck (or possibly incredible good luck) his weapon's breach jammed badly and he managed to shoot himself in the face, knocking himself unconscious.
Despite the cyberware, Adamar managed to resuscitate his brother while Doozer defused the bomb (counter-terrorists win). The woman was an obvious threat, but she was nowhere to be found, so the team decided the best option was to retrieve Ottmeyer, use the explosives to sink the yacht, ditch the boat somewhere before the cops came, and sneak back to Palm Cove as quickly as possible.
Dousing him in alcohol and leaving him naked just outside of town, they put in an anonymous call to the cops and legged it. Before leaving him to his fate, Sharp noticed a strange symbol on the back of Ottmeyer's neck, a subdermal tattoo that was difficult to otherwise notice. It appeared to be a similar to an asterisk, four lines crossing over in the middle, however the vertical line was three dots.
Five days later, back in the pit of metahuman misery that was Uncle Tony's strip club, the team were informed that Ottmeyer seemed to have been accepted back at Renraku with no problems and the they received their 50,000 nuyen pay. The Mr Johnson added that he had received further information that suggested that Horizon had in fact hired no team, meaning that the other team were either acting independently or had a very obscure backer.
The implications of all this were soon forgotten as the team toasted their first successful run together, and inaugurated the name Lizard Kings as their official work name.
It wasn't until two weeks later that Ishmael received a call from an ex-military buddy of his that would set the newly christened Lizard Kings on another thrilling escapade for cash and kills...
