The ongoing Tale of the Baron Tamar as told by Dom ‘Petit’ Pierre of Pasos
Oh what a glorious sight! To see the Baron's mace of justice and his loyal Knight's sword of truth blazing through the villainous ranks of the mercenary scum that dared to intercede between us and poor innocent Lucenzo! It was not long before the villains were counting their dead and begging for mercy at Tamar's feet. Only one did the Baron spare, a curious dim witted Dark Troll named Zarko who traded information for his freedom and told us of the vile mercenaries' intent - to capture Lucenzo and deliver him to the dread red Vadeli, fanatical servants of evil.
And oh what evil! Lucenzo told us more of what had happened to him, his very life essence nearly drunk in full by the demonic Lamia who, we now discovered, was named Eglantine, one of the seven dread servants of the higher power we now understood Luther had decided to face in his role as a Boristi Quest Knight. He had taken the Hrestol Knight Sir Martin with him as well as the Pagan Sage Lambert Greybeard - a strange group of companions, although no doubt well intentioned and experienced withal. Together they had confronted Eglantine as she had tried to relieve Lucenzo of his last breath and Luther had questioned this demon, no doubt about the higher power that she had once served - in exchange for answers, Luther spared the demon's life - a decidedly odd move on Luther's behalf. Lucenzo told us that Sir Marik had intended to travel far west from the city but did not know where. He also intimated to that generous youth that there was little chance of his quest being successful - a curious fact for such a Quest Knight to admit.
Luther's bizarre behaviour asked many questions to which there were no ready answers but my counsel to the Baron was that the Boristi have a reputation for insanity and extreme cunning given their dedication to rooting out evil. I wondered then which Luther was but my instinct said cunning for only fools follow madmen and the Hrestol Knight and pagan Lawspeaker were unlikely to have been such, given what we already knew. It was clear we had to follow Luther's footsteps in search of more information.
Our Trollish recruit had trailed the Vadel Redskin, Zhor back to a secret cove on Sog's western beach and a cave therein that led back to the city. Here, we reasoned, the serpent like Eglantine would come to be at one with the water. This would be where we would confront her and find out what answers Luther had sought, where he had gone and who this higher power was. It would require more cunning than ever...
