Our heroes are walking the boulevards and avenues looking for love, or a quick bit of gold! The party had split following various goals, with Grey and Bod sitting in front of Garg, Omasu's major domo, trying to arrange a meeting with the known freedom fighter, while Arahan and Siegfried trotted through the grimy market in pursuit of the almighty silver piece.
Garg agreed to set up a meeting with Grey and Omasu the following day. Garg asked where they were staying and the heroes asked for a recommendation. Garg Recommended they stay at the Jerris Wheel and he will send a runner to confirm the appointment time.
Arahan is keeping aware as he was coasting through the market, and after and extrodinary recollection of his streetwise knowledge he was sure they were not walking into a trap. Arahan and Siegfried meet Salaam the trader, someone with a reputation withing Jerris of being able to shift strange weaponry. Arahan haggles like a one eyed horse trader and does a high line is trading off the globes he knew to be worth 2000s. He gets 1000 silver for it, and also impressed Salaam greatly with his courtesy and trading ability. Salaam told him he also dose a line in weapons, and items a little more illegal in nature and if he is ever needed come and see him. Arahan is betowed the nickname "the Haggler".
Grey and Bod go to the Jerris Wheel, which is a very well appointed hotel on the corner of the boulevard to the council chamber and the marketplace. They manage to negotiate the room price down by dropping Garg and Omasu's name in the conversation. Grey goes for a drink and gets a seat outside facing the market. Bod inspects the room, railing about being offered a windling bed and pretending to be very picky about how the hotel is furnished. After his snooty inspection he joined Grey downstairs in a drink.
Arahan and Siegfried leave the traders and travel towards the council chambers, but they are intercepted by Bod and Grey and told that they have rooms. Arahan has a private session to split up the cash and everyone decide to go shopping. Arahan and Grey go looking for armour and weapons. Arahan had already passed a few stalls on his way to Salaam and lead them directly to a smith. They had ideas on what they wanted to spend their cash on but began to realise they still might not have the funds to finance them.
Bod is looking for magical assistance, a mentor or tutor to assist him in developing as an Illusionist. He wanders around the market scaring little children at first trying to get information, until he comes to a section of the market that seems to specialise in magical items. He uses his racial Astral Sight and spots that most of the magical items offered are not magic at all, but a sword swallower is letting off some magic vibes along with a potion seller. He questions the Potion seller, getting him to reveal if he knows a few simple potions that require magicked ingredients. He does and he explained that he got his ingredients from the magic guild near the council chambers and then volunteers directions for the tired Windling.
Arahan demonstrates his haggling ability again by getting a discount on the armour a troll sized set of chain mail and a human size set of ring mail. He also uses his streetwise roll again to find news of Verity, who is located in Sleece and a well known weaponsmith. Arahan was able to take his armour straight away but Grey had to wait until the following day so the smith could do the necessary alterations to fit the size of the troll. Arahan and Grey agree to go back to the hotel after their shopping trip.
Bod goes to the magic guild and gets an appointment for the following day, before heading back to the Jerris Wheel. When he arrives he sees that Grey has notice to meet Omasu the following day at 10:30 in the morning. The group decided to go out for a drink after getting cleaned up a bit.
The heroes went out for the night to a variety of taverns where they partied hard and purchased a lot of drinks for locals, which netted them a lot of information. Thye learned that Omasu and Tyrs had a disagreement as Omasu was chiding the council for allowing the whole fleet to go away mining elemental air, some of the farmers that live inside the walls have been too afraid to go out to their fields outside the city walls, the crystal raiders are unhappy with their privateer contract as the council tried to get out of paying them another drakkar owed to them by claiming the vedette they took was the ship due them, the grain silos were burnt down by raiders who snuck into town, How Tyrs entertained the crystal raiders last night and was looking to write a song or epic in their honour and how an ex councillor was killed by a horror the night before.
The next morning brings a few sore heads but the meeting with Omasu is the groups primary focus for the morning. Omasu was pleased to meet the group he had heard about and wanted to hear Grey's story for himself. Grey told his story and then asked to join Omasu's resistance so he could get stronger and get his children back. Omasu says that they have a raid planned in a few months, and Grey can be part of it if he can prove himself to the resistance by potentially making a trip to the Delaris Mountains. Time was up but Omasu said he will follow up with another discussion after the ceremony.
Bod meets with the tutor at 12pm, and he explained that he wanted to see the truth of communication and be able to understand someone even though their language might be foreign. The tutor taught him some methods of seeing body language and the intent between the lines, as well as how to decipher languages using what you know of other languages. In the end Bod came away with an increased understanding for speaking and Reading Language. Bod impressed his tutor who offered to keep in contact after this meeting.
The rest of the group picked up Greys armour from the Smith on the way back to the hotel. They got prepared for the ceremony and purchased new patterned clothing from a tailor. Bath or a wash followed by the new clothes and they were ready, in their gleaming armour. Bod gets back later and hurriedly changes into flash clothes and robes.
The party walks to the ceremony which is only in the corner of the market. When they arrived they approached the dais and told them who they were, that they were the group who battled Theran slavers in the sky. They were brought up on stage and they asked what the name of their group was and Bod replied they were "Gregoriuses Fighters". There was also an Ork group of mercenaries called the TukTuk Raiders and a local gang in outsized finery called the Section 9 Squad who were being honoured. The Crystal Raiders turned up but stayed towards the back of the crowd.
There was a big crowd in, and right at the start the councillors congratulate the people who bravely assisted in defending Jerris, the Troll Crystal Raiders of the Delaris Mountains, the crowd cheered, then TukTuk's raiders, which got a cheer, the Section 9 Squad, which got a bigger cheer and Gregoriuses Fighters, when Bod flies up casting Bellow of the Thundras, hyping the crowd up like a little floating cheerleader which impressed the crowd and got the biggest cheer.
Then the council representatives step forward to complete their speech, which ended the session. What will the council say, what service will Omasu ask of Grey, will Arahan ever get to Sleece? Stay tuned next week.
