At the bottom of lift shaft 1, Blaise lay unconscious. The sound of crushing stone could be heard from beyond the broken elevator doors.
Up on the 5th floor Cryogen faced Nano-man. The lady who owned the apartment he was standing in lay unconscious halfway to the door. Two children, and their parents, huddled down the hall. Lifting his arm a spray of cold steam enveloped Nano-man. The cloud chilled him to the core and he sensed that the moving parts of his nano-machines were hampered. Despite his weakened state he charged in to meet the ice man. Deciding not to attack directly he corroded the floor beneath them both. As they landed in the apartment below his nano-machines rebuilt the hole now above them.
Outside the building Bloodthirst and Magni continued their battle with Pyre. Proving a nimble opponent the vampire decided take on his bat form ready to drop from above.
Arriving back from Freedom Hall, where Kyle Harrison now remained for safety, Blue Bolt investigated the crashing sounds coming from the underground car-park.
He found the cars and interior all covered in sparking ice. Granite, the hulking brute of earth, stood before a smashed pillar on his continued vendetta against the building. Using the power cabling as a conduit, Blue Bolt teleported them both back out into the park.
Meanwhile Hephaestus continued his descent of the internal stairs. When within range Nano-man established radio contact with him. Selflessly he refused an offer of help, to deal with Cryogen, instead letting him know of the people in need of help on the floor above.
Maybe sensing the battle was turning against them Cryogen made a break for the elevator shaft. Projecting ice beams off the sides he controlled his fall.
Chasing, Nano-man threw himself down the shaft after him. Failing to harm his foe with a fly-by attack he changed into his swarm form to stop his fall just below the man of ice. Firing a thicker stream of ice, am ice block grew and encased the nano-machine cloud. Cryogen dropped onto the cube as fell. Hitting the floor the block cracked. Escaping through the fissures Nano-man reformed corroding Cryogen into unconsciousness.
Bloodthirst's body expanded above Pyre dropping into a deadly embrace. Gasping in shock the man dropped to ground. His essence wasn't the only thing the vampre drained. As he stepped over the unconscious body of his foe Bloodthirst burst into flames. Nodding to the vampire in appreciation Magni turned the see Blue Bolt appear with Granite. Although the rock being was disorientated by his transport, the gods lightning did not appear to hurt him.
Picking up the unconcious lady and finding the hiding family, Hephaestus led them back to the stairs. As they made their way to the street level the rest of the buildings inhabitants had begun to react to the building attack; pouring into the stairwell too. Getting Minerva to access the CCTV cameras she scanned for threats still in the building. In the foyer she could see more screaming civilians. Moving away from the reception desk the watery form of Professor Fathom could be seen moving towards the elevator.
Finding they were making little progress at taking Granite down, Blue Bolt tried to coordinate his attacks with Magni. Unfortunately even if Blue Bolt could talk, while in his electrical form, Magni was still deaf from Bloodthirst earlier sonic attack.
Now that Cryogen was taken care of Nano-man rendez-vous'd with Hephaestus to heal the unconscious lady. Once she was steady on here feet the suited hero pursued Professor Fathom. Crashing through the lift doors he flew to the basement following the drips of water. There in the frozen carpark he saw the limp body of Blaise being carried by the water being.
Calling for him to release his team mate, the Professor demanded that Kyle Harrison be brought to him.
With one mighty blast of lightning Granite was finally knocked into unconsciousness.
Now that the Professor was the only visible target, Sylph was nowhere to be seen, the team moved in on him. His watery form darted out of the way of several attacks before Nano-man's nano-bots reached Blaise's body. Reviving him the ex-marine blinked into consciousness. Bringing his gauntlets to bear, two jets of flame evaporated the Professors head. A new one popped out of his torso but he was obviously shaken. Dropping Blaise, he yelled a threat at the heroes and poured himself down a nearby drain.
Changing into his swarm form Nano-man followed. Coming out into a flowing sewer no sign could be seen of the fluid mastermind.
Oustside the emergency services were arriving including AEGIS, the American Elite Government Intervention Service. They began helping the injured, putting out fires and shackling the men of ice, fire and rock.
Members of the Freedom League also arrived. Dr Metropolis with Daedelus started repairs on the building. Captain Thunder approached the heroes thanking them for their saving the day. Offering to clear up what was needed he said they could go and talk to Kyle Harrison who was still at Freedom Hall. He also asked them to come to Freedom Hall the next day to discuss something important.
Blue Bolt teleported the team back to the Hall. Raven showed them to the cell block where Harrison was reading a paper.
Taking an aggressive approach to the questioning Kyle gave them what they needed to know; having stolen a drug from one of GrantCo's research labs he found a pusher through a company contact. Giving the address of the lab to the heroes they set off to find the source of the drug.....
