I have bad luck with characters surviving these horror/investigation type games, I am the master of character death.

It was a fun game that I really enjoyed, happy Pietr made good his escape, he was too old for this shit.

Black Seas, week 1

The acolytes (Marcus – Adept, Trukk – Guardsman, Justinian – Cleric, Maria – Assassin), are currently on the heavily polluted industrial world of Solomon. They were ordered to report to Inquisitor Xanthus. Xanthus looked them in the eye, declared they were credits to the Imperium, and ordered they be briefed.

The mission is to investigate suspicious activities on an offshore promethium extraction rig, Pipus-257 Alphon, in disguise as an inspection team from the rig’s owners, Ortog Promethium. Xanthus has an agent on board, Preacher Orlov. The chief target is the rig’s Security Chief, Pellon, who in reality is believed to be Kemal Kercha, noted cultist and magos. Preacher Orlov has not reported in for eight days. Another acolyte team was sent in five days ago, and have also disappeared. The team were set three objectives:

Find out what Kercha is doing on the rig
Ascertain the whereabouts and or fate of Preacher Orlov
Ascertain the whereabouts and or fate of the other team

The rig’s production is vital to the Imperium, so it must stay in action.

The team were given a vox-communicator and sent off to the docks. After a nasty fight with dockyard thugs, the team were able to secure a place on a transport to the rig, and gained a new recruit, Severus, an ex-Arbitrator.

The transport-lifter’s gregarious crew chief reported that various strange parties had recently gone to the rig, including a security team who looked more like rock-hard mercs 8 days ago, and a suspicious and unlikely party of workers 5 days ago. Crates in the lifter were discovered to contain large quantities of ammunition and grenades. Trukk sabotaged these to explode when opened. They noticed a dark storm over the rig, which dissipated as they grew near. An unidentified craft left the rig, heading in the direction of some uninhabited islands.

On the rig, they were met by Old Giffer, hanger chief, who moaned that all his staff were below, dealing with muties, or some such thing, and that there was no-one to offload the lifter. The lifter crew chief said he would wait for the acolytes for a time. Old Giffer took the team to the control room, where 3rd officer Pfizer was alone. He was evasive and vague about what was going on, continually parroting an unlikely “Situation normal”. The acolytes noticed that certain of the monitors showed warnings or red-line measurements.

Goateed Security Chief Pellon arrived, two security guards/mercs in tow, and was more convincing, assigning Pfizer to take the acolytes wherever they wished to go. They proceeded to the crew quarters, where the bodies of the senior officers and a tech-priest were lying in the burnt-out wardroom. Rough questioning of Pfizer revealed he had been blackmailed by Pellon (who was now in charge), that conflict was going on below, connected to the mutant bilge-crew, and that something was underway.

Leaving him tied up, the team went to the chapel. There, they unmasked and executed an imposter pretending to be Justus, Preacher Orlov’s Deacon/assistant. The imposter had a chaotic cult symbol on his back. They also discovered a secret chamber, where a note in Inquisitorial code indicated that Justus was in the bilge decks, and that even the impure could be of use.

The team proceeded downwards. A screaming man ran past, with two mercs in hot pursuit. Killing the mercs, Maria and Jusinius following the screamer into a large room, with the aim of questioning him. Marcus noticed a red-dot laser sight moving onto Maria, just as the room’s door slammed shut….

If you take the skill we can get an machine that assists with First Aid therefore giving you a better dice pool. I might take first aid as well as I have a good logic and it will synergise well.

Of course, we were slow/I misunderestimated the time, and we are only half way through the adventure - Sri, do you mind if we finish off this Thursday? It will probably take the whole session. There are characters enough for everyone else to play too, and I will shortly post a summary of the (mis?)adventures so far.

On the subject of Shadowrun, I've been thinking about what to spend Karma on. I think someone in the group needs to take First Aid! I'd do it, and I will if no-one else does, but it's a Logic skill, and my rating is only 2, so I could spend all my points and still have a pretty miserable roll.

Another soul who has wilted under the God-Emperors gaze. Methinks he has sold his soul to Slaanesh in some perverted all night orgy ritual.
