Re:Dark Heresy: Rags and Tatters 2 Weeks, 4 Days ago Current XP: 0
I'm not running tonight I'm afraid, but we should have a talk (online) about what to play next. (I'm having fun with the Viking game but it takes me a surprisingly long time to come up with adventures. I will run at least one more, but not right away.)

Here are the options come to mind right now:

Runequest: Fantasy in a bronze-age world that's nothing like D&D. Probably an open-ended campaign with quite a lot of player freedom.
Pros: A big detailed world with a _lot_ of published material I can use. Different rule systems give us a choice of gritty or heroic styles of play.
Cons: Somewhere between three and five different rule systems to choose from, depending on how you count. Setting could be difficult to get into. Sheer volume of published material could make the game unfocused.

Gethaena: Short fantasy campaign, originally for the rules-a-riffic Rolemaster system. I'll adapt the system we've been using for the Vikings game instead.
Pros: Strong storyline with a clear end.
Cons: I suspect the author really wanted to write a novel: could end up railroad-y and/or uninvolving.

Call of Cthulhu: Investigative horror. Joe & Rhian will remember my previous campaign.
Pros: Easy for me to run. Plenty of choice - we can pick a well-reviewed published campaign that suits us.
Cons: Joe & Rhian will remember my previous campaign: can be slow, hard to keep track of what's happening if sessions are infrequent, not much action.

Paranoia: Comedy RPG. Hunt commies, mutants, and traitors as a troubleshooter in an underground city run by a mad computer. Don't get executed as a traitor yourself!
Pros: Very different from anything else.
Cons: Rules are a bit fiddly. Game was written in the late 80s and the comedy may or may not still be funny today.

I'm open to other suggestions, too - or just votes on what style of play you'd prefer: more fighting, more pure roleplaying, more or less detailed rules, etc.

Hi,

I'd be interested but I'm a bit swamped right now. Since today's session is (supposedly) the end of the adventure, I leave that one out I guess. I'm planning to pop by later to say hello though, if that's alright. The new venue is conveniently located within walking distance of me.

Okay... are we up for a game at the new venue tomorrow? I'm aiming to get this adventure finished, if all goes well. (If all doesn't go well then you and/or your characters will probably be dead of either mystification or exposition. But let's not dwell on the negative. )

Joe - if you're around and interested then I can find a way to fit you into the game, too.

What's everyone's status vis-a-vis gaming this week? I've been kind of assuming everyone will be busy with the run-up to Christmas, but I could run tomorrow if people are interested and Will can provide a venue.
