Incidentally, if any of you has an iphone/ipod touch then "King of Dragon Pass" is, basically, a game of the early history of the land your characters came from:

Sorry to hear it - get well soon.

No game tomorrow if we're two down, obviously.

I'm also out - I've somehow achieved the dubious honour of being the first group member to succumb to the dreaded lurgy this year (read: I'm ill...)

Joe - I'll assume you're busy next Tuesday, unless I hear otherwise.

As I said last session, if everyone else can make it then I'll find a one-off of some kind to run. Probably Paranoia - although I may jury-rig some simpler rules so we don't spend the whole session creating characters.

I'm a bit late to the party but congratulations Will (and Laura, of course)! She is supercute (yet another newborn child with more hair than me... grrrr )

As for gaming, I'm up for whatever - I've never played Runequest but am happy to give it go. I would like to try Paranoia at some point, though - I've got the rulebook somewhere but have never actually played a game!

See y'all Tuesday

I don't normally find babies cute, but that's cute. Enjoy parenting!

OK, I think I can post this photo. I'll restrain myself from now on.

Enjoy the gaming!

I'll definitely get back to the Vikings - it just takes me a while to write. (Sounds odd, I know, considering how much improv I do, but if I don't have enough ideas to improvise around then it falls flat.) And I'll keep Paranoia in reserve - the fatality rate makes it ideal for one-off games.

Runequest sounds good I'd also be up for moar Vikings, CoC (again, lol) or Paranoia (okay, okay - I admit the potential for dodgy humour sold me on this one) ^^

Aaaand, I'm in for Tuesday

Getting a distinct "don't really mind" vibe about this, so I'm going to go with Runequest. Can everyone make it next Tuesday? We can create some characters and I've got a very short introductory scenario (more of a fight than an adventure) I can run.

I'll also see if I can recruit another player or two. Experience suggests it'll take a while to find someone who sticks around, but the game format should be loose enough to deal with that.

The dwarves (dwarfs?) in Runequest are too alien to be player characters - you'd have to settle for just someone short and bad-tempered. There wouldn't be big overall storyline so dropping in and out wouldn't be a disaster. And I've found two more rule systems since I last counted, one of which looks pretty good.

Paranoia would be "The Yellow Clearance Black Box Blues" - it's a short-ish campaign of four adventures, and bits of it still made me laugh when I read through it. I think the party killed each other off well before the end the only time I ran it, but that was <mumble> years ago - I might be able to manage things better now.

So, you managed to draw everyone's attention away from Sam's question, how inconsiderate. Just kidding. Congratulations and all the best! Regarding photos, you can always upload some to Facebook. I'm sure Frances Nina will appreciate it when she's older.

Sam, as the guy who frequently disappears for a while from time to time, I'm probably the one who's opinion on this matters the least. Which obviously doesn't prevent me from announcing it anyway.

Runequest: Nothing like D&D sounds good. Since I can't promise continuous participation at the moment I'd rather vote for something that's not a big campaign. I'd be very interested in checking out Runequest though, have never played it.

Gethaena: Odd name. Short fantasy campaign would suit me personally, although it seems to be quite a bit of work for you.

CoC: Fine with me, although something new (to me) would be more interesting. Especially something where I can play a dwarf.

Paranoia: Haven't played that in ages. I've only ever played it on cons as a one-off, and we always ended up killing each other. Not sure whether it's really suitable for campaign style playing. Good fun though. I think I've even got the rule book somewhere.

Reading that back, I'm not making a useful contribution here, am I. Generally speaking, I'm in the mood for fantasy with a little bit of action, which may be related to the fact that I recently got Dragon Age II. But I'm basically up for anything.
