Agent Cecile Devereux - Personal Notes - Sunday October 19, 2008, 10:30am

Thank God everyone has returned alive.  Not that Pierce or I even knew any of the team were missing in weirdsville, swallowed up by the invisible floors of a building in central New Orleans that is apparently now connected to the city of Carcosa on an alien planet, far, far away.

Thankfully, they escaped a tricky encounter with the locals of that place thanks to a plague of ‘wasp-birds' (Karen's description) riled up by the collective abilities of Karen and Tabitha Locke.  Yes, we finally have Tabitha back safe and sound - well, relatively speaking.  I am tempted to return her to her mother and call it mission accomplished but unfortunately it ain't that simple.  Tabitha escaped to this other dimension using a grimoire called the Book of Eibon - she attuned to Lilith Dumont's ‘energy' and then ‘gated' there.  Unfortunately, Lilith is apparently a prisoner of Carcosa and Tabitha couldn't find a way to get to her.

According to Frost, Martikian and Chance, our missing boss, Kruger, may also be in the same predicament.  En route they picked up another Federal Agent, Doris Johnson out of D.C., assigned to Homeland Security - she went missing the day before Katrina hit.  For one of us, she's pretty evasive but I guess I would be too if I found out 3 years of my life had suddenly vanished.  I hear these HS folks are pretty paranoid so perhaps it's institutional funk but she has protocols to follow in re-establishing contact with her superiors.  That's her story anyway - clearly, Martikian and the others don't trust her but she helped them out in a bad spot so I am inclined to give her rope - if she chooses to hang herself with it, that's her lookout.

In the meantime, we have a big problem on our hands.  Other than trying to find Lilith, one of the main reasons Tabitha fled is she was being pursued by some ‘heavy people' - both figuratively and literally.  Last summer she had worked an outreach project and noticed that people and children kept disappearing.  Acting like a regular Nancy Drew, she mapped the locations, approx times etc and took witness reports of a suspect vehicle in the area - a dog pound van, later re-branded to a private ambulance registered to a hydro-therapy clinic in Mid-City.  She visited the principal there, a Doctor Shine who was less than helpful and it was after that, that things took a sinister turn as she believed she was being followed.

She also claimed to have received warning dreams from Farina's psychic, Lynn Stone.  These suggest that Shine and his people are not human, just appear so.  In truth they are ‘shoggoths', powerful alien creatures on a mission to bring one of their ‘Lords' through a gate so that they can multiply and grow in power.  They may well be working with Stenneau as the ultimate heavies ready to wipe out anything that stands in their way.  Relatively invulnerable to firearms, apparently fire, electricity or something big like a bomb may be the only way to contain them.  Which reminds me - that dirty bomb is still in the wind...Well, we have until 10/31 before they can summon their leader in so we have to find a way to stop them before then.  Tabitha thinks they may have been stockpiling sacrifices so a lot of lives could be at stake here.  We need to find and watch this clinic, see what they are up to and hopefully they may lead us to where the ‘summons' is to take place.

We also need a way to try and bring some heat on Stenneau's army of thugs as they made another attempt on our group last night - nearly getting to Agent Summers in hospital - fortunately, Parisi had a premonition and Pierce was also on the ball so we got there in time and bagged a few more soldiers.  It's like a Hydra though - you can keep cutting off heads but you need to kill the beast - so Boy Teche just went top of my shit list.
